The Next Chapter

I very clearly remember at twelve years old God calling me to serve Him in global missions. But that call would not be fulfilled right away. I got married two years after college and spent the next fifteen years raising our two children while serving in multiple church ministries over the years. When I was 40 years old, just as our children were becoming teenagers, I finally heeded that long ago call to missions when I participated in my first global trip to India. It was on that first trip that my passion for global missions was ignited and began to grow.

My life verse is Isaiah 55:8, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, declares the Lord.” God has proved this verse over and over in so many instances in my life. I like to say that I pray for answers, “A, B or C” and God answers with, “Z” because always He seems to answer in a way I could not imagine or consider. Thus, it’s the same for my journey in mission ministries. Since that first trip in 2007 I began praying for God to lead me to the right job with the right mission organization.

In the meantime, I founded Encouragement Expeditions in 2015. I fully believe God used this ministry to teach me even more and provide me with friendships that will always be cherished. Visiting and serving missionaries personally really gave me an inside perspective of their lives and ministry. A perspective I needed if God was going to use me in the future in a missionary role.

Twelve years after my first global trip, having visited ten countries over a series of fifteen trips, God answered.  The lessons I learned on those various trips, as a participant and a leader, have equipped me for that role with the right organization that I’ve been praying so earnestly for over the years. God molded and shaped me with the gifts and talents and experiences in His perfect time.

I am so excited to join International Commission as a full time Mobilization Coordinator. International Commission (IC) and the position both feel tailor-made for me. And I know this is because God brought us together! I will have the privilege of recruiting and leading teams to partner with local churches in other countries for evangelism outreach projects. I can combine my love for serving the Lord and encouraging others to help believers around the world reach the lost for the Lord.

Because I am committing full time to IC, I will no longer be making trips as Encouragement Expeditions. I know God used this ministry to open the eyes of many to recognizing the need to encourage missionaries in the field. I will be forever grateful to the ones who accepted a visit from me. I am grateful and honored the Lord used me in such a small way to serve Him using the gift of encouragement. No time serving Him is wasted when the call is His! Thank you for supporting me in this ministry!

And now I’m asking you to join me in my new adventure with International Commission. You can learn more about the organization here.

Ecclesiastes 4:12 says, “A cord of three strands is not easily broken.” Mission ministry has three strands – God, the missionaries and the supporters. I would like to invite you to be a supporter and join me as a partner at IC with a monthly gift of $200, $100 or $50. Or maybe God has placed another amount on your heart.

2 Corinthians 9:7, “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

I am reminded of Paul’s letter to the Philippians regarding the financial support he received from them, “But I have received everything in full and have an abundance; I am amply supplied, having received from Epaphroditus what you have sent, a fragrant aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God. And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Phil 4:18-19) May God bless you for investing in me in this partnership in the Great Commission to go into the world to preach the good news of the gospel of Christ.

Love and Blessings,

Penny
